Mark Cervi, a senior director with Zolfo Cooper, has over 20 years of diversified business experience including 17 years specializing in restructuring. He has provided interim management and advisory services to distressed debtors, lenders and unsecured creditors in both bankruptcy cases and out-of-court situations. Mark has experience in all areas of the restructuring process including working capital management, financial planning, valuation, insolvency-related litigation, counterparty negotiations, bankruptcy reporting, claims management and the sale of assets.
Mark's most recent work includes advising the unsecured creditors committees of Charming Charlie, Bon-Ton and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. He also recently advised Maxus Energy through its bankruptcy and on alter ego-related litigation; advised the secured lenders of Relativity Media to monitor their collateral and assist in the successful credit bid of the Relativity TV assets; and advised the independent directors of Sabine Oil and Gas with their investigation into potential causes of action.
Mark has also worked on various confidential out-of-court situations in energy, mining, construction, manufacturing and media and entertainment, in which he advised the board of directors or senior lenders of the companies.
Notable engagements include serving as an advisor or associate director for the Chapter 11 proceedings of Standard Register, Chassix, James River Coal, Pacific Energy Resources, The Wornick Company, Collins & Aikman, NRG Energy and Enron. He has also been a financial advisor in a multitude of smaller bankruptcy and out-of-court restructuring assignments. In each of these, Mark played a key role in leading administrative initiatives to support the overall restructuring.
Prior to joining Zolfo Cooper, Mark was a senior associate in the audit group with PwC and also provided tax and assurance services over a wide range of industries.
