Kevin Nystrom is a managing director at Zolfo Cooper with more than 25 years of experience in restructuring and financial management. He has held numerous management positions and advised companies, boards of directors, investor groups and lenders in a wide range of turnarounds and reorganizations. His operational experience covers numerous industries including mining, manufacturing, distribution, financial services, professional services, transportation, telecommunications and real estate.
Kevin has extensive interim management experience. He has served as CEO of Boomerang Tube, an OTCG manufacturer; chief restructuring officer of the Dolan Company, a publicly held provider of professional services and business information; Barnes Bay (owner of the Viceroy Anguilla Hotel and Resort); American Home Mortgage, formerly one of the country's largest mortgage companies; and COO of Hawaiian Telcom, the tenth largest telecommunications utility in the country.
Kevin is experienced in development of reorganization plans, creditor negotiations, arbitration with regulators and government agencies; business plan preparation and long-term forecasting; developing and implementing cost reduction programs; and financial management of public and privately held companies. His expertise includes developing proactive contingency plans for companies facing significant business transitions and leading due diligence of acquisition targets that are financially troubled.
Kevin has advised debtors, creditors and other key stakeholders in restructuring engagements including Peabody Energy; James River Coal Company; Mineral Park; Oxford Resources; Local Insight Media, a yellow pages publisher; Blitz USA, formerly the largest U.S. manufacturer of portable fuel containers; Samsonite; Performance Transportation Services; Marsh; ICG Communications; Rand McNally; ANH Refractories and numerous non-public assignments, including a $5 billion international glass fiber manufacturer and a 10,000-professional global engineering firm specializing in public transportation construction.
Prior to joining Zolfo Cooper, Kevin served as executive vice president and CFO of National Mortgage Corporation, and the CFO of sister, publicly held REITS, Asset Investors and Commercial Assets, Inc., which held residual interests in mortgage-backed securities. At National Mortgage Corporation he managed servicing operations and led secondary marketing, including securitizations of mortgage loans.
