Jason Keyes has over 10 years of restructuring, corporate finance and turnaround experience. He has advised companies, creditors and investors across a variety of industries, both in-court and out-of-court. Jason’s experience spans industries including energy, shipping, infrastructure, mining, insurance, media, automotive, retail, telecommunications and building materials. He has extensive experience in all areas of the restructuring process including business plan development, negotiations and valuation.
Jason currently advises TOISA, a $1 billion global shipping company based in Greece and the U.K. that owns 46 ships in the tanker, bulker and offshore sectors. He leads the on-the-ground team as the company navigates Chapter 11 and develops a plan of reorganization.
Jason recently advised Total Terminals Inc. (TTI), a shipping container company critical to many U.S. supply chains. He helped stabilize TTI, negotiate breathing room with lenders, develop a sustainable business plan and assist with a transformative M&A transaction. As part of this one year turnaround, lost revenue was replaced and EBITDA was improved by $100 million.
As a financial advisor to Pacific Exploration & Production, Latin America’s largest independent oil producer, Jason was integral to the company’s business plan development, DIP structuring and strategic planning, enabling Pacific to raise $500 million in DIP financing to support the turnaround.
With significant experience in infrastructure, Jason has advised investors for a U.S. highway, a bridge and tunnel operator, GCT Global Container Terminals, Maher Terminals, a parking company, a chassis leasing company, and several other large international infrastructure projects. Jason’s work has led to the restructuring of over $10 billion in infrastructure-related debt across over 10 assignments.
Jason has advised Official Committees at Essar Steel Minnesota, UCI International, Alpha Natural Resources, American Apparel, Patriot Coal, Chassix and Allied Nevada Gold. He has completed projects for Preferred Sands, CCG, Marco Polo Seatrade B.V., a Dutch shipping company, and the Source Interlink Companies, a $2.4 billion media publisher and distributor.
Prior to pursuing his M.B.A., Jason was a senior associate at KPMG, where he provided auditing and accounting services to Fortune 500 companies.
