Eric Koza specializes in providing leadership to troubled and underperforming companies and advising senior executives, boards of directors and creditors. He has nearly 19 years of experience focused on complex and distressed situations, as executive officer of a public company, financial advisor, principal investor and director of public and private companies. His unique combination of restructuring, operating and transaction experience spans multiple countries and industries.

Professional Experience

Eric recently served as CRO of Avaya, a $3.2 billion global technology company with approximately $6 billion in debt. Prior to re-joining Zolfo Cooper, Eric was senior vice president, corporate development and financial strategy at Comverse Technology Inc., a $1.5 billion public company. Reporting to the chairman and CEO, Eric had global responsibility for corporate development, corporate finance, treasury, business finance and financial planning and analysis. Over his tenure, he unwound a complex holding company through executing a series of transactions (sale, spin-off and merger) involving three operating subsidiaries.

With Zolfo Cooper From 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to present, Eric advised debtors and creditors in numerous engagements, including financial and operational restructurings, strategic advisory, designing and implementing turnaround strategies, acquisition due diligence and a complex sale of a controlling position for a consortium of lenders. Notable assignments include TerraForm Global, TerraForm Power, Guilford Performance Textiles, Motor Coach Industries, Trans World Entertainment, Dominion Petroleum, Harlan Labs, ICBC Broadcast Holdings and confidential matters in energy, shipping, manufacturing, and consumer products.

Eric spent nearly a decade as a principal investing across the capital structure in distressed and highly leveraged companies. He was a founding partner of Verax Capital Partners, a control private equity fund, and a partner in various funds at W.R. Huff Asset Management, a multi-billion dollar investment advisor specializing in private equity, distressed and high yield corporate bonds.

Previously, Eric was a member of the board of directors of GoodRadio.TV, a private radio broadcasting company, Starhome B.V., a private software company, Impsat Fiber Networks, a public telecommunications company, and he provided financial and business advisory services to NTL Inc. (now Virgin Media).
